Especially when Nonno or Nonna tell it!​

It all started with lasagna, Mama, and a passion for serving the community wholesome food. Over the years, Mama Yolanda's Gourmet Lasagna recipe has been served at countless family dinners and to hundreds of people at Carmen's Banquet Hall, but was originally served by Mama herself to her family and to the neighbourhood kids of Hamilton's North end.

The recipe for Mama Yolanda's gourmet lasagna dates back seven generations in the Mercanti family.

Over all these years we have continuously perfected the way we prepare, assemble, and cook our lasagna. Not just a namesake, we've maintained Iolanda Mercanti's traditional Italian process, fine tuning it to deliver what we believe to be the world’s best frozen lasagna.

Over the past 35 years at Carmen’s Banquet Centre, our lasagna has been served to some of the world’s most famous and influential people, including past presidents of the United States Bill Clinton and George Bush, Academy Award winning actors Michael Douglas, Sophia Loren, Al Pacino, and Sylvester Stallone. Mama Yolanda’s Lasagna always made the top of their list as their favourite dish. We even got a request from Al Pacino, the Godfather himself, to send a tray of our lasagna to his home in New York when he visited Carmen’s in 2010.
